Last chance to order poinsettias for your home, office, or the church! Val & Howard will be at lunch after mass (and they take credit cards too).  Plants are particularly healthy and beautiful.  The is the Poinsettias for Patients campaign of the Vic General Auxiliary to purchase another Biliblanket for jaundiced premies.  You can also order for yourself online until November 15th.

Special General Meeting of the Parish: There will be a special general meeting of the parish on Sunday, November 12th after mass to discuss the parish finances. Please contact the office for more information, or speak with the Rector`s Warden, Ben Jones, or Treasurer, Alf Birch. Child care will be provided.

St. Martin’s Day Lantern Walk: Saturday, November 11th 4:30 pm. Bring the children in your life for a short play in the church about the life of the saint, followed by a lantern walk through Fernwood. Freshly-baked pretzels and hot apple cider will be for sale, bonfire included! Donations of warm, dark men`s socks for CARTS will be gratefully accepted.

Tea Talk: Making Peace with Creation – Movie screening followed by a discussion

with Poet and Theologian Loren Wilkinson and Regent College instructor Mary-Ruth Wilkinson, November 26th 3:00 pm. Childcare provided, please register.

Service of Remembrance – Tonight, at St. Luke’s at 10 am to honour veterans buried in St. Luke’s Cemetery. The service will start in the church followed by a time in the cemetery to recognize those who served in the wars and are buried in St. Luke’s Cemetery. If you have a family member buried in St. Luke’s Cemetery who is a veteran that you would like recognized at this service, please contact St. Luke’s Office.

Annual remembrance of Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass).  This year’s commemoration will take place on Thursday, November 9th , beginning at 7 p.m. at Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue, 1461 Blanshard Street.  Please join us to remember the past and envision a better future where we will respect and protect our neighbours, not remain silent in the face of any injustice against any person or group and work towards building bridges leading to unity and shalom (peace) in our own community and beyond.  For further information, please contact Micha Menczer  Coordinator, Victoria Shoah Project.
