The St. Barnabas Elders’ Network is out to lunch! Join us for a POT LUCK LUNCH on Thursday, August 17th, from Noon to 2 p.m. at the home of Jane Turner, 209-1012 Collinson Street in the Fairfield area, Please contact Jane to RSVP, to tell her what you would like to bring, or to ask for further information. If you are unable to bring anything, you are very welcome nonetheless – there will be plenty for all.  Transportation will be provided if needed. Please let us know. There may be no free lunch but this is near enough!

Theology on Tap: Wednesday, August 16th, 8pm. Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our lively discussion about the virtues last month! We will continue our discussion, focusing on the Theological vs. the Cardinal virtues at the Argyle Attic: 777 Courtney St. Carpooling from the Wednesday night mass available. Sunday Lunch in the Summer: There is now a paper sign-up sheet in the hall for setting up,  bringing a light snack, or cleaning up from now until September 3rd.  Many thanks to all who contribute to this ministry!

St. Barnabas Family Camp: August 31 – Sept. 3rd, on the Sunshine Coast. All members of the St. Barnabas Family are invited. Camp, bunk or stay in a near-by B&B. For more information, see the brochure at the back of the church.

Save the dates! Sister Jeannie Lynne will be taking her vows on September 21st in the New Jerusalem Chapel at Christ Church Cathedral, 7pm. Mother Meagan Crosby-Shearer will be inducted as Rector at St. Matthias October 16thPlease pray for them as they fulfill their vocations.

Youth Coordinator Position at St. George’s: The Parish of St. George’s, Cadboro bay, is looking for a part-time Youth Ministry Coordinator, to start in September. For more information, see the posting on our hall bulletin board, or contact St. George’s: Leslie Flynn.

Volunteers Needed at Food Bank: The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul needs volunteers at its emergency food location, 828 View St.  Duties include bagging dried goods and sorting and bagging fresh produce and bread. Shifts are 8:30 – 11:00, Monday to Friday. Regular and on-call volunteers welcome.  Contact Margaret Walters.
